Perhistoric native Americans called the Anazasi. The name of the New Mexican town nearby is Aztec, hence, Aztec Ruins.

There is no longer an entrance fee. I heard the clerk say that they got rid of the entrance fee in May, 2018.

According to their website, they are open from 8:00-6:00 every day except Christmas and New Years.
