The fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein files flap is cascading, further roiling a Justice Department and FBI that have struggled for months to appease the demands of far-right conservative personalities and influential members of President Donald Trump’s base.

FBI deputy director Dan Bongino took a day off from work Friday after clashing at the White House with Attorney General Pam Bondi over their handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, four sources familiar with conflict told Axios.

Bondi failed to remember her place in the world and Trump's default to personal gain over public good. She should have realized that her "findings" in the Epstein case would end up being whatever Trump wanted. And the safe course for her would be to tamp down prosecutorial expectations, not heighten them.
