Broncos trade second-year WR to Saints
Digest more
Broncos legend Terell Davis is excited about the trajectory that Denver is on after making the playoffs last year.
Plus which undrafted rookies might crack the 53, the offensive line, just how high Kris Abrams-Draine can climb on the depth chart and much more.
One position in particular that could cause headaches is wide receiver. Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin and third-round pick Pat Bryant are presumably locks. Devaughn Vele is presumably safe, and Trent Sherfield is set to serve as a key special teams player this season.
"You can always feel him when he's out there," Bonitto said of Greenlaw, who has missed much of camp with a quad injury.
The Denver Broncos will face the New Orleans Saints in their preseason finale on Aug. 23, then the team will have until Aug. 26 to set a 53-man roster. Once cut players clear waivers, Denver can build a 16-player practice squad (or a 17-player practice squad if the team carries an international player).
Denver Broncos backup offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo suffered a season-ending ACL injury in a preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, coach Sean Payton confirmed after Tuesday's practice. "Nick, we put on reserve injured," Payton said. "That’s an ACL and a pretty significant injury and season-ending, so that’s a tough loss.”
7-8. ILBs Jordan Turner and Karene Reid: Turner impressed with five tackles, three quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks and one tackle behind the line of scrimmage on Saturday. One week earlier, Reid had two tackles, one interception and one pass breakup. Both should be practice squad targets if they clear waivers.
