On the girls’ side, Palo Alto freshman Ella Cohen, competing at 105 pounds, defeated Ava Fodera of Poway by fall at 5:20. Clayton Valley took seventh in the girls team standings at 59.5 points and Gilroy was 10th at 52.

Four wrestlers from the High Desert reached the podium at the CIF State Wrestling Championships in Bakersfield over the weekend.

A trio of local wrestlers reached the top eight in their respective weight classes at the CIF state wrestling championships Saturday — one on the boys’ side and a pair on the girls.
