Office spinoff The Paper announced
Digest more
Titled “The Paper,” the half-hour sitcom will follow staffers of a struggling, historic Toledo newspaper, named The Truth Teller, and shot in the same documentary crew style of its predecessor, which launched the careers of Steve Carell, John Krasinski and Mindy Kaling among others.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, THE PAPER will follow a historic but struggling newspaper company in Toledo, Ohio. Former OFFICE showrunner Greg Daniels and Michael Koman will write the series. Oscar Nuñez will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez from THE OFFICE.
In September, we’ll know whether or not The Office spin-off actually works. The Paper won’t premiere on broadcast TV like its predecessor—an unfortunate sign of the times, but Peacock probably still needs the subscriber boost to justify its existence.
