So far, there have been no reports of illness associated with the affected products. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, adults aged 65 or older, and others with weakened immune systems, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women and lead to fatal infections in kids, seniors and people with weak immune systems.

An Ohio company is recalling more than 5,000 pounds of white cheddar, Monterey Jack, pepper jack and horseradish cheese because of listeria concerns.
