Wearing a white home jersey with red letters spelled out “Boston” across the front — a jersey inspired after the city rallied in the Red Sox's first game following the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 — Buehler threw his first pitch at 11:11 a.m. on a chilly morning at Fenway Park.

Walker Buehler pitched seven strong innings, Kristian Campbell’s base-loaded grounder rolled into right field for a two-run single and the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago White Sox 4-2 in Boston’s annual Patriots’ Day game.

Instead of navigating road closures along the Boston Marathon route, Red Sox pitcher Walker Buehler instead took his family to a hotel prior to his Monday morning start.
