In what has been a well-below average season for the Braves, it got worse Thursday when it was announced that Austin Riley would miss the rest of the season.

Riley, who was placed on the 10-day injured list for the second time in two months on Aug. 4 with a strained lower abdominal muscle, is expected to return in time for spring training next year.

Giants third baseman Matt Chapman is heading to the injured list for the second time in 2025, this time due to inflammation in his right hand, as first reported by The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. In an effort to reduce further swelling, Chapman has received a cortisone shot to combat the inflammation, but the efforts have been futile.
