Spanish authorities say two people have died in northeastern Spain in a wildfire that spread quickly before firefighters brought it under control.

Europe's continuing heat wave on Wednesday helped fuel a deadly wildfire in Spain while the European Union presented plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under scorching temperatures.

At least eight people have died as a heat wave hits parts of Europe, with two dead in France, two in Italy and four in Spain, according to officials.
