A man apparently experiencing a mental health crisis shot a police chief and sergeant as they tried to take him into custody Wednesday morning, according to prosecutors. Another officer reportedly shot the man in the head during the incident.

Two police officers and a civilian were shot Wednesday in Hinsdale, western Massachusetts. Officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries; one civilian is in critical condition.
