WNBA star Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky had a blunt message of support for U.S. tennis superstar Coco Gauff after her WTA win.

Angel Reese went to social media to congratulate Coco Gauff, after the American won her first WTA Finals on Saturday. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, whose WNBA season was cut short by injury, continues to be a passionate advocate for women’s sports across the board.

After beating Krejcikova in her opener at the WTA Finals, the Pole delivered a lackluster performance against the 2023 US Open and ended up picking a 3-6 4-6 defeat. Afterward, she was the first to acknowledge her mistake and vowed to do better in her next match.

Defiant Coco Gauff fought back to beat China's Zheng Qinwen 3-6 6-4 7-6(2) in a three-hour thriller on Saturday and become the youngest player to win the WTA Finals in 20 years and the first American champion since Serena Williams a decade ago.

Gauff and Sabalenka have faced each other eight times with a 4-4 head-to-head record. Sabalenka won their match at the Wuhan Open last month, and the pair split the other two recent meetings at Grand Slam finals: the 2023 US Open which Gauff won and the 2024 Australian Open which Sabalenka won.
