The gains come as Reuters reported that U.S. sanctions led Russian oil company Lukoil to declare a force majeure at its oil field in Iraq, which produces about 480,000 b/d. The move shows the impact of the latest U.S. sanctions targeting both Lukoil and Rosneft, Russia's two largest oil companies.
Stock futures were dropping again Wednesday as investors worried that valuations have become too bloated off the back of a blistering artificial-intelligence rally. Some on Wall Street are now predicting a prolonged selloff.

Meanwhile, Amazon AMZN, Broadcom AVGO, Nvidia NVDA, Palantir Technologies PLTR and Tesla TSLA were big winners on the stock market Monday. Nvidia partner CoreWeave CRWV declined in extended trading after the company's earnings report.
Refined product contracts were mixed near midday, with the NYMEX December ULSD contract flat at $2.496/gal and January ULSD up 0.3ct to $2.44/gal. The December RBOB contract was off by 1.45ct to $1.951/gal and the January RBOB contract was 0.5ct lower at $1.894/gal.
