Up To 7 Inches: New Snowfall Map Shows Bigger Totals For Storm Coming After Christmas
Snowfall projections have been bumped up for the post-Christmas storm, with a new National Weather Service map showing widespread 5 to 7 inches now likely across much of the tristate area, and even higher totals in some spots.
As of 1 p.m., 2.7 inches of snow had fallen at Belvedere Castle in Central Park, the official National Weather Service measuring station for the city. That made Sunday the earliest date of the season since 2018 that more than two inches of snow had accumulated in Central Park.
New York City has suspended Alternate Side Parking (ASP) rules in response to the recent heavy snowfall, affecting millions of drivers and city services. ASP suspensions have direct implications for commuting, city sanitation operations, and local businesses during periods of severe weather.
