For nearly five decades, a glowing “Happy Holidays” message has appeared each winter on Nationwide’s downtown Columbus skyscraper, becoming a familiar seasonal sight for residents and visitors.

The most dangerous day to drive this month is Dec. 23, with auto accidents starting to climb as early as Dec. 19, according to Columbus-based Nationwide Insurance.
