After being snubbed by the College Football Playoff, Notre Dame has pulled itself out of the postseason entirely. Hours after being left out of the 12-team playoff, the Fighting Irish announced that “as a team, we’ve decided to withdraw our name from consideration for a bowl game following the 2025 season,” the football team posted on X.
The Notre Dame football program has added a key opponent to its upcoming schedule in order to boost its resume.
Sources say Notre Dame and Freeman have not yet completed a reworked deal but are motivated to finish it, hopefully by year’s end.
Athletic director Pete Bevacqua also took issue with the playoff selection committee, which left the Fighting Irish out of its 12-team field.
After brouhaha with the College Football Playoff selection of Miami, the ACC must play hardball with Notre Dame and regain respectability.
