SIOUX CITY — The middle span of the Big Sioux Pedestrian Bridge has been set on two piers, bringing the long-awaited project closer to fruition.

A metal segment of this pedestrian bridge being installed over Coon Rapids Boulevard in Coon Rapids was damaged Tuesday, after it hit a highway overpass while being transported to the site.

CHARLESTON — As the pedestrian bridge that will eventually span the Ashley River continues to take shape, city officials are expecting final designs for its landing on the peninsula to come this week.
