Pope Francis was admitted to hospital for bronchitis treatment Friday and has canceled all scheduled events for the next three days, according to the Vatican.

Pope Francis is being treated for a respiratory tract infection at a Rome hospital after fighting a bout of bronchitis in recent days, the Holy See’s press office said in a statement.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis was hospitalized Friday for the fourth time since being elected in 2013, after he was diagnosed with bronchitis last week. Francis had part of one lung removed as a young man and has recurring bouts of bronchitis, especially in winter.
