Israeli President Isaac Herzog's arrival in Canberra been met by hundreds of anti-Israel protesters at Parliament House.
Pocock stressed Australians' right to protest and questioned the Albanese government's decision to invite Herzog to Australia. "We saw what happened in Sydney and there is a worrying clampdown on protest across this country," he said in response to footage of violent clashes between police and demonstrators.
The Sydney rally, which had been barred from marching through the city under a late-afternoon court order, ended in violent confrontations between police and protesters with more than 27 people arrested. The NSW government legislated tough new anti-protest laws after the Bondi attack.
