The Georgia Southern Eagles and Appalachian State Mountaineers meet Monday at the JLab Birmingham Bowl in Birmingham, Alabama. Kickoff is 2 p.m. ET.

Georgia Southern is Birmingham bound on Christmas Day. The Eagles will hit the road for the JLab Birmingham Bowl Thursday afternoon and hold their first practice in Alabama on Friday. Georgia Southern (6-6) will face longtime rival Appalachian State (5-7) on Monday, Dec. 29 at Protective Stadium. Kickoff at the Birmingham Bowl is set 2 p.m. (ET).

While today’s bowl slate delivers meaningful postseason action, attention is quickly shifting toward the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, which begin Wednesday night. Four CFP quarterfinal games — the Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl — will be played across two days to determine the semifinal field.

Alabama lost to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game 28-7 on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, handing the Crimson Tide its first loss in a conference title game since 2008.
