During a recent interview for British GQ, the actor who plays Jim Hopper on the hit Netflix show said that after reading the scripts for season one (which aired in 2016), he was convinced his character would die by suicide at the end of the first installment — as a way for Hopper to apologize to his daughter who died.

Like the rest of the cast and crew of Stranger Things, Thunderbolts* star David Harbour is looking ahead to the finale of the Netflix series later this year. However, the actor revealed that he could not believe his character lasted this long in the show.

Instead, Stranger Things became a massive hit and a regular paycheck. There was one Hopper fake-out death at the end of the third season, but he came back in the fourth. (“I think they were just committed to the beauty of that moment of his death,
