Doug Ghim jumped on the course early Thursday, posting a 62 to take a one-shot lead after 18 holes. Max Homa and Austin Eckroat were a shot back. For Homa, his 63 is his best first-round score on the PGA Tour. Those two keep the pedal down Friday, with Ghim holding the outright lead and Homa not far behind.

The PGA Tour stayed in the Midwest this week, traveling from Michigan to Illinois for the John Deere Classic, where $8.4 million will be up for grabs with the winner taking $1,512,000.
