By Joseph Ax (Reuters) -Hundreds of additional National Guard troops are headed to Washington, D.C., from half a dozen Republican-led states, bolstering President Donald Trump's extraordinary move to flood the Democratic-led city with soldiers and federal agents in what he claims is an effort to fight violent crime.
Tennessee has sent 160 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., as President Donald Trump and the White House continue to push their crime fighting directive.
This comes after Trump announced he is taking control over Washington’s police department and activating National Guard troops to reduce crime.
Crime is out of control there, and it’s clear something must be done to combat it,” Mississippi’s governor said.
National Guard troops from West Virginia, South Carolina, Mississippi and Louisiana have begun arriving in Washington.
