The Allegheny County Health Department has identified the first human case of West Nile virus in 2025. The individual, who lives in Plum Borough, began experiencing symptoms in mid-July, including fever, malaise, diarrhea and anorexia, and is currently recovering at home.

Two more cases of West Nile Virus in northwest Pennsylvania were reported Monday evening, one of them in Crawford County and the other in Mercer County. The Mercer County Conservation District said a second case of the virus was found in Crawford County in the Cochranton area,
