The Braintree Little League team suffered its first loss of the summer 13-0 to Irmo, South Carolina in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. WBZ-TV's Samantha Chaney spoke with fans in Braintree who are still optimistic.

Day 5 began with a United States bracket game between Washington (Northwest region) and Massachusetts (New England). Bonney Lake, Washington edged Braintree, Massachusetts 3-2 to keep their championship hopes alive. Elsewhere, Canada scored a blowout win in the International bracket, routing Australia 12-0 in five innings.

Fans went wild, cheering on Braintree at Southside Tavern on Sunday as the team took on Washington in the Little League World Series.

There is a lot of baseball happening in Williamsport, Pa. on Sunday, Aug. 17 as the 2025 Little League World Series has an early start time to make sure there is enough time for the Little League Classic at night featuring MLB squads.

Before their first game of the Little League World Series, the kids from Braintree received an encouraging message from members of the Boston Red Sox.

Residents in Braintree came out in droves to support the Little League team as they advanced in the World Series on Saturday.
