Gunnar Henderson hit a three-run homer in a four-run eighth inning and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 on Saturday for their seventh victory in 10 games. Jordan Westburg had an RBI single off Caleb Thielbar (2-3) in the eighth to end the Orioles’ scoreless streak at 18 innings.

With the Orioles at 56-67 in 2025, Basallo’s signing, alongside prospects like Dylan Beavers, positions him in a strong position for future contention. His rookie eligibility in 2026 could also yield an extra draft pick if he wins Rookie of the Year.

Henderson played in the Orioles' first 65 games before manager Brandon Hyde gave him a day off. Not that he needed a boost, but in 18 games since, Henderson batted .338 with a .417 OBP and 1.038 OPS.

For the Orioles’ starting pitcher, it’s career-win number 50. And for Henderson, it’s career home run number 50. And after game number 54, the first-third of the 2024 season is in the rearview.
