Scientists have found evidence of new brain cells sprouting in adults - a process that many thought only occurred in children

Scientists say they have very strong evidence that the adult human brain is capable of making new neurons, a point of ongoing controversy in neuroscience.

Now, researchers at Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet say they’ve found the clearest answer yet. They report the discovery of dividing neural progenitor cells — essentially the precursors to new neurons — in the brains of humans ranging in age from infancy to 78 years old.
