West Nile virus has been confirmed in an Oakland County resident, marking the county’s first human case this year.

A third human case of West Nile Virus has been reported by the Shelby County Health Department and the Tennessee Health Department on Tuesday.

City staff say around 80 per cent of people infected with West Nile virus will not show symptoms, but those with weakened immune systems may develop severe illnesses.
