A woman sailing a yacht in the Mediterranean Sea filmed a frightening encounter with a huge orca, which attacked her vessel by repeatedly banging into it. | ABC News

Orca can behave very differently based on which region of the sea they live in. Each group has their own "cultures," specialised to the local ecology. Some orca groups are also transient and have their own set of behaviours and prey preferences. These transient orca, passing through Puget Sound in the northwest Pacific, are hunting a small whale. As we near the end of our second week of field work with the Center for Whale Research , we're excited about the possibility of better weather and, fingers crossed, the return of the Southern Resident orcas to Puget Sound. Orcas across the globe use their incredible intelligence and underwater communication skills to stay on top of the food chain. Orcas live in close-knit family pods and adults can weigh up to 6,000kg. Despite their immense size and intelligence, they can still be at risk from human activity.
