No need for a crazy false grip, but it’s essential to wrap your fingers around the bar as much as is comfortable and bear the weight as you hang on the outer palm of the hand. You can imagine trying to bend the bar in front of your body. Pro tip: use chalk and ideally also athletic tape on the bar to ensure the grip doesn’t slip.
