On September 12, 1897, 21 brave soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army valiantly fought against 10000 Afghan (Pashtun) Tribesmen to defend an important North-West Frontier post in the village of Saragarhi (now in Pakistan).
