The government will be carrying out a national test of the UK Emergency Alerts system on 7 September 2025 at 3pm. All compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones and tablets will receive the alert. The alert will be a really loud siren-like sound - we've added a video so you know what to expect. For people living with dementia the sound could be reminiscent of past traumatic events such as air raid sirens or times they may have been involved in a fire and the alarm has sounded.
