Here we are performing a superficial cervical plexus block. We use this block for surgeries in the lower head and neck. The superficial cervical plexus is a bundle of nerves that provides sensory innervation to the anterior and lateral neck, the tissues underneath and the platysma muscle. We find that for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedures this block helps patients to be more comfortable in the PACU.
